Welcome to Rory Game Photography

I’m Rory and capturing natural yet modern ‘in the moment’wedding and lifestyle photography is what I do. Renowned for my individual creativity, I maintain a modern yet deeply personal approach to my style of photography; seamlessly weaving the story of your special day through the natural flow of your wedding or special occasion photographs…the love, tears and joy as the day unfolds…..Unobtrusive, yet a natural at getting to know you and your friends and loved ones….

Living in Chester a great deal of my shoots do happen to be around Chester, Manchester and the North West of England. That said, I happen to think there are some absolutely cracking locations the length and breadth of the UK. I love to travel, both around the UK and to foreign climes and I am more than happy to work with you if you like my style of photography and would like me to photograph your wedding or occasion.

As somewhat of a wanderlust myself, I would of course love to be your photographer of choice for your destination wedding. Of course, destination weddings do take a bit of thought and extra consideration when it comes to the planning and coordination of the event. If you are planning on saying I Do abroad, contact me now for further information on the special destination wedding packages and for current availability. If you are indeed planning a wedding abroad, good on you I say! For some top tips and things to consider when making the necessary arrangements for a destination wedding, you can't beat this fantastic blog article by the team at You and Your Wedding. It is certainly a good starting point for your planning checklist.

Please note, due to current demand, bookings for 2017 are filling up fast and I am already receiving several bookings for 2018. If you are planning a wedding abroad and would like me to photograph the occasion, I will require at least six months’ notice ahead of the date.

Wedding Photography

Choosing your wedding photograher has to be one of the key decisions you will make in planning your wedding. With so much to consider, simply how do you choose? If you are looking for advice on selecting the right professional for the job, why not head on over to my blog and read my top tips on wedding photographers and how to be sure you have found the right one.

Blending into the background, as your wedding photographer of choice, I will allow your day to unfold naturally, without disruption – yet I will be expertly placed to capture the uniqueness and expressed emotion that is your very own special day. The day is yours, and it is important that you can feel at ease with your choice of photographer. With you and yours having fun and enjoying the proceedings, my job is so much easier and we are on route to creating some fabulous unprompted and real life shots that will create lasting memories of your day.

Depending on your preference, I can be there for the full day or part. A full day’s shoot will incorporate lots of lovely getting ready shots – a pre-celebratory drink with your bridesmaids as you get ready for the day ahead or the first glance from a proud and tearful father when he sees his little girl for the very first time perhaps? From here, the story of your day will unfold, your walk down the aisle, your first kiss as husband and wife, the cheeky antics of your little niece or nephew…the people, loved ones and the emotions that encompass them will be expertly captured for your album.

For wedding photography, we of course arrange an initial consultation to discuss the style of wedding photography you most like and the photography packages we have available to suit your budget. However, more than that, I would love to accompany you as a couple to your wedding venue prior to the day itself if this is possible. I always find that a visit to the location can really help us all to visualize just how you wish the day to be captured. Over coffee and a bite to eat, we can then run through the expected plans for the day and the key aspects of your ceremony or wedding reception you would like me to document. A walk round the venue and its grounds is always hugely beneficial for myself as the photographer to assess and document any important considerations such as available light or access issues for the photography on the day.

Photography Prices

Our prices depend on chiefly on whether you require a full day's input or would only like to book for a half day shoot. Differences in prices quoted will be according to individual variables such as specific travel costs, overnight accomodation required, whether you woudl like a pre-wedding shoot and the defined number of hours booked. Additional extras such as images on canvas, acrylic block or album will be clearly indicated at time of booking. For further information on our pricing structure, please take a look at our Prices page.

For additional queries or questions you may have, I have tried to answer these over on our Frequently Asked Questions page. Failing that, please feel free to drop me a line via our Get In Touch page.

12 + months ahead:

1)       Money Talks:  Knowing your budget and what you can realistically afford to spend can avoid things spiralling out of control further down the planning route. If you are on a tight budget, it is perhaps good to be flexible on the date you choose for your wedding day. The cost variations between weekday weddings and popular weekend dates can make choosing a less popular date a cost-worthy decision. Weekday wedding discounts are offered from big budget spenders such as your venue, photographer and entertainment choices. Remember to check with individual vendors in regards to their individual policies before booking.

Of course, if your circumstances allow, researching and booking your venue 12 months plus ahead of your proposed date means you will have more of a choice when it comes to selecting your desired location and more bargaining power when it comes to negotiating any weekday discounts. Be organised. Stay strict and remain within budget by tracking your spending with the help of an Excel spreadsheet listing all your outgoings and the key payment dates required.

2)      Book your photographer. Any worthy photographer will get booked up months; even years in advance. Decide on the style of photography you most identify with and prepare to meet with your shortlisted few prior to booking. We can’t stress enough the importance of being able to connect emotionally and socially with your chosen photographer. After all, they will be with you for the entire day, sharing in and capturing the most treasured and intimate moments of your special day.

6 – 7 Months Ahead:

3)     Finding the ONE. Be sure to leave plenty of time to find THE perfect wedding dress. Having an idea of the style of dress that may suit you before heading to the shops could possibly save you bundles of time and avoid costly mistakes. If you are having major alterations to your chosen dress, or plan on having a bespoke design handmade, you will need to allow at least 6-7 months to account for the required alterations to be made.

Plan a date in your diary in the next week or two to go bridesmaid dress shopping with your chosen few too.

4)      Save The Date. At least 6 months in advance of your wedding you will need to send out ‘save the date’ notifications or the wedding invitations themselves to ensure your nearest and dearest can be with you on your chosen day. If you are watching the pennies, an alternative option and one that is more environmentally friendly of course, is to send out your invites via email and ask guest to RSVP online.

5)    Wedding Entertainment. Now is the time to think Wedding Entertainment. Again, high demand live bands or popular orchestral pieces will have limited availability the closer you get to your actual wedding date. Do your research and prepare to book ahead.

6)    Think Honeymoon. Booking your honeymoon destination months ahead can ultimately save you hundreds of pounds of the price of the holiday on Early Bird saver deals. Remember to leave room in your budget to account for holiday spends and pre-holiday prep as this can add unexpected hundreds to your budget if forgotten about.

7)    Cake and Flowers. Sort out your Wedding Cake and Flowers at least six months before the big day. Many Cake specialists offer tasting sessions ahead of your wedding to allow you to select the flavour and style of cake you most like. By ordering flowers that will be in season when your wedding occurs, you can also reduce the final cost of your wedding day bouquets and reception décor.

3 - 4 months ahead:

8)     The Finer Details. No later than 4 months to go make sure all the finer details on your planning list are booked and ticked off.  Finalise the important aspects of your ceremony such as readings, ceremony music, transport to and from the ceremony and reception for you and your bridal party, purchase your wedding rings and book in for the all-important hair and beauty and appointments to ensure your bridal hair and makeup for you and your bridesmaids are how you envisage them on the day.  Now is the time to re-visit your venue to meet your Event Manager and sign off the finer details such as timings for the day, menu choices and points of contact for yourselves and your guests on the actual day itself.

9)     Hen & Stag. With the help of your Chief Bridesmaid and Best Man, plan in your respective Hen and Stag Do’s and get numbers confirmed.

A couple of weeks to go:

10)  Final Preps. With a couple of weeks to go, book in your wedding day rehearsal to be sure your bridal party know what is expected of them during the wedding ceremony, wedding day speeches and associated traditions.

11)  Last Minute Purchases. Purchase any last-minute items including makeup, bridal accessories, bridal lingerie and thankyou presents to give out on the day.

12)  Contact your suppliers. Confirm any last minute arrangements for delivery and set up for your list of suppliers.

13)  Enjoy! Breathe, try to relax and enjoy the lead up to the most important moment of your life – you have planned to perfection after all!
